Winter is upon us and whether you want to escape the winter cold or embrace it, we’ve got the best campgrounds for winter camping to do so. After all, one of the best parts about RVing is you can chase 70 – if you want to.

Our list is a fun blend of spots with perpetual sunshine and spots that are just fun to be in for winter activities. Let’s get into the best spots for winter camping this season — and where you should take your rig nearby!

Enjoy coastal life every season in Westport, Washington, known for fishing, surfing, crabbing, and so much more! When you park your rig at American Sunset RV & Tent Resort, you’ll have convenient access to it all.

Winter is a great time for a quiet escape and some clamming near Twin Harbors State Park! While you’re around take some time to take your RV to Seattle or through Olympic National Park.

Immerse yourself in the realm of redwoods in Felton. Santa Cruz Redwood RV, backed by Henry Conwell Redwoods State Park, is the perfect place to do so in your RV.

The best thing to do nearby is obviously to admire the 40-acre grove of old-growth redwood trees, towering up to 277 feet tall, in the state park. Close by are also the Santa Cruz Sandhills where you’ll find diverse plant and animal life. And, of course, taking your RV to San Francisco, only about 1.5 hours from the campsite, is a must.

Surrounded by Rocky Mountain National Park, Granby transforms into a winter wonderland this time of year. With every winter activity, you can imagine, you can go ice fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, or just take in the snowy mountain scenery from the comfort of your campsite.

Popular spots, apart from the National Park, include Winter Park Ski Resort, Grand Lake, Arapaho National Forest, and Hot Sulphur Springs. From there, RV to Denver, see a show at Red Rocks, and take a hike at Chatfield State Park.
