What is your fee structure? And how do I get paid?

It’s completely free to list on Outdoorsy. In fact, you don’t pay us anything until your first booking begins.

Here’s how it works: When a guest books a trip, they pay Outdoorsy. We then hold those funds until 48 hours after their trip starts. That’s when we release your payout to you.

You get 75%, 78%, or 80% of the booking subtotal. That includes the nightly rate plus add-ons, the cleaning fee, delivery fee, and any other fees, if applicable. It does not include Outdoorsy fees and taxes.

The remaining 20%, 22%, or 25% goes to Outdoorsy, so we can maintain and operate a safe, high-quality platform that protects you, your vehicle, and your guests. That includes costs related to guest identity verification, reservation screening, other trust and safety measures, and marketing your listing to drive bookings.

This is known as your host fee. We automatically take it out of your payout before releasing the money to you.

Host fee tiers

The host fee you pay is based on your total bookings value over a 12-month period. Your total bookings value is the combined value of all rental income, guest / host fees, and insurance.

  • 20%
Hosts in this tier pay a 20% fee on every rental. Their total bookings value in the prior 12-month period was $35,000 or more.
  • 22%
Hosts in this tier pay a 22% fee on every booking. Their total bookings value in the prior 12-month period was $20,001 – $34,999.
  • 25%
Hosts in this tier pay a 25% fee on every booking. Their total bookings value in the prior 12-month period was $20,000 or less. This includes new hosts.

As a host’s business grows and their total bookings value increases, they’ll automatically move into a tier with a lower fee. However, they won’t automatically move into a tier with a higher fee, even if their total bookings value drop.

Unlike other platforms, we don’t apply the host fee to any post-trip charges you may need to bill the guest for. On these, we only look to cover our credit card processing fees. Examples of post-trip charges include fees on RV rentals for driving more miles or using more generator hours that were included in the rental agreement. You set your own fee structure for such charges when creating your listing.

Guests also pay a service fee to Outdoorsy. This ranges between 5% and 20% of the booking subtotal. We sometimes adjust these rates or offer discounts, but this doesn’t impact the amount of your payout.

How and when do I get paid?

We’ll automatically deposit your money into your bank account 48 hours after your guest starts their trip. Don’t worry, we use banking-level, secure online payments to keep everyone’s info safe.

Just a heads up that it usually takes 3 – 5 business days for banks to post that cash to your account.
