Hi, My name is Emily. I live on the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii and I love giving visitors an opportunity to explore this amazing island in Vana the Vandura, a restored 1992 GMC Vandura camper. There are so many great beaches, plus Hawaii Volcanoes National Park that offer great camping. Plus, Hawaii has wonderful public amenities like showers, bathrooms, and BBQs at nearly every beach. I've lived in Kailua-Kona, HI for the last 6 years, and have a wealth of knowledge to share with visitors when it comes to what to do, where to camp, and most importantly, what to eat! I own Vana the Vandura with my partner Matt, who is the owner of an automotive business here in Kona. He keeps her fine tuned, and I handle bookings and coordinating with guests.

Totally loved this van. Such a vintage beauty, super photogenic. Got us all around the big island without any issues, had so many amenities for cooking & entertainment for a rainy day. I would definitely reccomend.

The wife and I had a great time exploring the Big Island in Vana the Vandura!!! Such a cool older ride. Feel more like a local driving this sweetie around too! A few small quirks mechanically, nothing serious, but what older rig doesn't, its part of the charm😁!! Thanks for trusting us with her and would definitely rent again if we ever have a chance too!

We had such a fantastic time with Vana! She was a joy to drive and I got such a buzz from hearing her low growl every time I started the ignition. Mechanically she ran very well and the interior was very comfortable. However, we were not prepared for the heat of the nights in the van. It became something of a sauna and we were too afraid to drain the battery by using the fans etc. We would have welcomed more advice on how to stay cool!
Nevertheless she was a great experience and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to drive the big Island!

Vana was perfect to explore big island with aloha feeling. We loved the sound of the V8 machine. The Van is perfectly equipped and super comfortable to sleep in. Communication with Emily went smooth and easy. We really enjoyed our trip! Would definitely recommend Vana! Mahalo to Emily and Matt and of course Vana for taking us safely through our 10-days Hawai’i journey! Kathrin & Christian

Doing the road trip, on Big Island, with Vana, will make your friends jealous! The truck is like a star where ever you park it! Many people will come to you and talk about Vana. Let you 1 day to feel the good vibes and get used to it. When the night is coming, just park Vana at any beaches (with permits) and enjoy all Vana gets: beach towels, small stove and pans to cook THE perfect hot-dogs, watch Robocop on the flat screen tv (or knock our head on it during the day), a nice bed and fan for the night. You will fall in love with the roar of the engine on the first acceleration and make the Mustang or Camaro car renters jealous of her. Wish I can find Vana sisters on other islands for my next trip to Hawaii!!

Vana was a huge part of our trip to the Big Island this year. We were traveling with 2 kids (post-booster seat age) to visit the places we used to live and her solid engine, giant gas tank and super-soft seats got us there in style. Emily was a fantastic host- great communication and the van was perfectly cleaned for us on pickup. We brought our DVD collection and the kids watched movies on the long day drives across the island- upside no "are we there yet"s, downside, they wanted to stay in Vana when we arrived! We didn't wind up camping as much as we had hoped but would definitely rent again next time. It's really nice to have such a big vehicle to keep everything in safely and a huge plus for being able to watch the meteor shower from her roof in lower Puna. Thanks Emily!

The van experience was great. Would highly recommend. Paid for airport pickup and dropoff and van was parked in lot waiting so never met the owners dropped it back off when we left.

Touring the Big Island with Emily's Van was amazing. The van was reliable, comfortable, and got us to every destination we wanted to see. There are still many more things to see and do on Hawaii and I definitely want to rent this vehicle again on my return visit.

Communication was fair but the owner had trouble keeping track of conversations, as she had "lots of renters to deal with."We had someone back into the vehicle and put a dent in the door and side mirror. I understand this is my responsibility as it happened during our rental period and we did pay for that damage. However the owner took this as an opportunity to charge us for a broken beach chair (we never used it because it was a child's chair and there were no children along - sure would have been nice to have an adult chair as promised by the owner) and damage to other parts of the vehicle. She also lied to Outdoorsy, claiming we left the vehicle a mess - we did not. We left it perfectly clean and left no garbage behind. Outdoorsy charged my credit card without even discussing the damage with me.
