There are over 50 hikes in the Chugach State Park area itself. Another gorgeous place to visit is Hatchers Pass where you can see old mining ruins, do more hiking and rock climbing. Eklutna is a beautiful lake surrounded by mountain peaks where you can rent kayaks and hike. Seward, the gateway to the Gulf of Alaska offers wonderful wildlife viewing opportunities. Travel to portage to visit Portage and other nearby Glaciers. Girdwood is a charming town to visit with great local restaurants. There are numerous campgrounds within a 100-mile radius of Anchorage. We love to travel and experience new adventures. Our hobbies include hiking, kayaking, fishing, rock climbing, and sailing. We have 1 Australian Sheppard-Joy. My daughter is a pre-nursing student currently here in Alaska. We take every opportunity we have to get out in nature and explore. We have lived together in Alaska since the spring of 2013. I am a nurse here in the community and John works as an engineer. Alaska is an amazing state and I am excited that others will get to experience it!
