Give it a try in this diy budget build.Being that this is an ‘03, the van is not without its quirks and character.We’ll start with the ugly; the radio works most of the time if the fan is on and the headlights are on. Also, if you are in sub freezing conditions, you need to let the glow plugs do their job for at least 30 minutes before attempting to start the vehicle in the morning. Anti-gel mix is needed for cold weather operations. There is rust on the external body and some missing paint spots. The keys don’t work for the sliding door, and it takes a little muscle to close once the door is fully opened. All the doors are creaky.The good:The Woottbus has a custom interior built designed for flexible functionality and modular adventures.Starting from the back, the folding bed was built to sleep long-ways so taller people can be comfortable. When folded, it sleeps one comfortably along the drivers side wall. When unfolded, the bed sleeps two with lots of space or three in cozy mode. For mattresses, the van has 3 aire brand paco pads and 3 pillows that are very comfortable with a sleeping bag. Sheets, pillow cases and sleeping bags are not provided. When the bed is folded, expect to be able to fit at least 3 bikes with wheels on in the corridor next to the bed and at least two bikes with front wheel off and seat down underneath the bed. There is also a lockable 3 bike rack on the back for total bike capacity of 8. Also, when the bed is folded out, expect to have enough room to stow up to 12 double stacked totes which can be provided as needed.Moving forward, there is a modular bench seat/short person folding bed. The bench is easy to pull out and can be included or removed with the rental. It is also storable under the folding bed in the back. The bench is tall enough to store totes 3 wide and the bed is long enough for someone to sleep width wise across the van.Beneath the bench along the passenger wall, there is a storable butchers block table. When the table is deployed, it connects to the drivers side wall and extends the kitchen counter in the shape of an L. The kitchen includes a full sized sink with cover, hand pump sink with 14 gallons of fresh water storage. In the cabinet below there are two butane stoves a Dutch oven and a cast iron frying pan along with a full set of utensils, 4 bowls, plates and two large bowls for mixing, meal prep or salads.Beneath the passenger swivel seat, there is a diesel powered parking heater that will keep you warm on the coldest nights. The van is spray foam insulated. There are two ceiling fan vents so you will have the option to move air around without getting out of bed. This van is optimized for summer bike adventures and winter snow adventures. It also includes a large pelican cooler and snow chains for the rear wheels.A blackout curtain separates the drivers cabin and the living space. Magnetic reflectix window covers are included for privacy and added insulation.
