Aloha!
Welcome to Hawaii! Meet Beachy Betty! Your Home Base for the Best of Oahu! She's not flashy. She doesn't need to be. Beachy Betty is a 2004 Chevy Express campervan that does exactly what you need her to do: get you to the water, keep you comfortable, and make sure you wake up exactly where you want to be.
Betty is built for the person who'd rather fall asleep to waves than alarms. She's the van for solo travelers, surf-chasing couples, and anyone who has ever looked at a hotel room and thought — why am I paying this much when the beach is right there? What you're getting:
New tires mean you're rolling smooth from the moment you pick up the keys. The Maxxair fan keeps the cabin cool even on the most humid Oahu nights — no AC drama, no stuffy mornings, just fresh island air on demand. Kenwood touchscreen with backup camera so you can actually park this thing without stress. Carpeted cabin with blinds throughout — blackout when you want to sleep in, open when you want to watch the sunrise from your bed.
Hand-sewn Hawaiian curtains and custom bed cushions were made for this van. This isn't a mattress-on-plywood situation. Someone actually cared about making it feel like a space you'd want to come back to.The setup:
Full camp setup included. Betty has a sink, a portable shower, and a Kenwood sound system that hits harder than you'd expect from a van parked at the beach. Pull up to Sunset Beach, crack the doors, and let the playlist run. Nobody's mad about it.
She sleeps two comfortably — cozy, not cramped. Perfect for solo adventurers who want to spread out, or couples who don't mind being close. (Spoiler: you won't mind.)
Need a toilet? We've got you — a portable toilet is available for hire at an additional charge. Betty thinks of everything.Where you'll want to take her:
Oahu's North Shore. Makapu'u. Waimanalo. Sandy Beach. Lanikai at first light before anyone else shows up. Betty fits everywhere a regular van fits — parking lots, campgrounds, and all the spots the rental car crowd never finds because they went back to their resort.
Pick her up and you're already in the right place. Drive to the pipeline, catch a North Shore sunrise, roll back to Betty for coffee before 8am. This is the life. What makes Beachy Betty different from every other campervan listing:
She's been loved, not abused. Less than 3,000 miles since 2022 — mostly weekend beach trips and hosting friends visiting the island. Clear Carfax. Registration current. Great engine. New spark plugs, tie rod ends, sway bar end links and bushings. New aftermarket headlights. This van was maintained by someone who actually uses it and cares about it running right.
She's not a project. She's a lifestyle you can step into today.A few honest notes:
Beachy Betty is a large van — she sleeps two, best for one or two guests who travel light and live simply. She's not a luxury RV and she doesn't pretend to be. What she has is a sink, a shower, great music, a great engine, and the freedom to park wherever the vibe takes you. On an island like Oahu, that's worth more than any five-star amenity list.
Bring your boards, your snorkel, your cooler, and your sense of adventure. Beachy Betty will handle the rest.

You've got Beachy Betty and the whole island ahead of you. Here's how to make the most of it.
Best overnight parking spotsSandy Beach Park (southeast shore) is one of the best legal overnight van spots on Oahu — wake up steps from one of the island's most legendary shore breaks. North Shore beach parks are also solid for overnight stays. Always check posted signage and arrive before dark to secure your spot.
Beach rotationKailua Beach — ranked #1 beach in the US, worth every bit of the hype. Gentle waves, white sand, perfect for kayaking out to Flat Island. For snorkeling with turtles, head to Lanikai Beach's north end. For serious shore break energy, Sandy Beach and Makapu'u deliver. North Shore — Pipeline, Sunset Beach, Laniakea — is about an hour from most points on the island and legendary for a reason.
Hidden gemCastles Beach — the quiet north end of Kailua Bay with no amenities, no crowds, and the best surf on that side of the island. Locals know it. Now you do too.
Start a morning rightLanikai Pillbox Trail (Ka'iwa Ridge) — the views over Lanikai Beach and the Mokulua Islands at sunrise are unreal. Go early, beat the crowd.
After the beachIsland Snow for shave ice. Kalapawai Market for burgers and acai bowls. Any poke spot in Kailua Town — too many good ones, indecision is real.
Don't missHo'omaluhia Botanical Garden for lush Ko'olau Mountain views. Kualoa Ranch for Jurassic Park filming locations — ATV tours, horseback riding, catamaran sails.
Use the island map in Betty's glovebox — the good spots are marked.Autres points à signalerA Few Things to Know About Betty
Dogs are very welcome!Beachy Betty loves four-legged co-pilots. Bring your pup — the island is full of dog-friendly beaches and trails to explore together.
The doorsBetty is built solid and sturdy — she needs a firm close to lock properly. Don't be shy, give those doors a real confident slam. If it feels too gentle, it probably didn't catch.
Speed humpsOahu has speed humps everywhere and Betty rides full — fuel tank stays topped up at all times. Take the humps slow and easy. She'll thank you for it.
Recommendations from your hostRent a kayak and paddle out to the Mokulua Islands
Catch a local farmers market — Kailua Town on Thursdays and Sundays is a favorite
Sunrise at Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail — paved, easy, and the whale watching (in season) is incredible
Laniakea Beach on the North Shore for sea turtle sightings right on the sand
Grab malasadas from Leonard's Bakery — non-negotiable

• Aloha and welcome to Beachy Betty! A few simple rules to keep the good vibes rolling:
Drive with Aloha — be courteous, patient, and respectful on the road. Hawaii moves at its own pace and that is part of the magic.
No horn honking unless it is a safety emergency. We are island people. We wave, we smile, we do not hoot.
Oahu has speed humps everywhere — slow right down over every single one. Betty rides full and does not appreciate a fast bump. Take them slow, every time.
Give Betty's doors a confident firm close to make sure they lock properly. If it feels gentle, do it again.
Return Betty with a full tank of gas — the same way you found her.
Respect the overnight parking rules. Check posted signage before you settle in for the night. Sandy Beach Park and North Shore beach parks are your best bets.
Leave Betty clean and tidy. Treat her the way you would want to find her.
Most importantly — have the time of your life. That is what she is here for.
Mahalo and enjoy every moment.

Aloha! I am Sarah, a Kailua-based adventurer and lover of everything this island has to offer.
Beachy Betty has been my personal weekend escape — she has carried me to the best surf spots, the quietest beaches, and the most jaw-dropping sunrises on Oahu. She is not just a van. She is a lifestyle. And now I want to share that with travelers who want to experience Hawaii the way locals do — off the resort strip, close to the water, and completely free.
I put a lot of love into Betty and into making sure every guest has everything they need from the moment they pick up the keys.
I know this island well and I am happy to point you toward the hidden spots the guidebooks miss.
Drive with Aloha, take the humps slow, and make memories that last.
