Sandy is our 1995 Toyota Hiace that we converted from a passenger van into a rad cozy camper. Sandy is a reliable 4WD diesel with the driver operating from the right side (made in Japan). On the exterior, we’ve installed a roof rack with a spare tire, an awning for protection from the elements, and a roof fan to help keep you cool on your island adventures. We’ve also upgraded the suspension with a full 2” lift.
Inside you’ll find plenty of room for your gear and relaxation. The “living room” holds a yeti cooler, 1500W Goal Zero battery with portable solar panels, a 7 gallon water Jerry can, and a custom fold up table.
The futon-style bed can be put into couch-mode or kept in bed-mode if preferred. We’ve also set up fairy lights so you can have a cozy drink, meal, movie date or board game session into the wee hours. There is a fan that can be plugged into the battery to stay cool at night, as well as a ceiling fan that can be plugged into the battery for additional ventilation.
Under the bed you will find a pelican case with everything you need to make hot water, hot meals, utensils, trash bags and mugs. You will also find two beach chairs and a portable camp table.
