The rv dealer said that they aren't built how they used to be and that the little bit of wind will lift it and break the extension arms. So when we are at the campsite we have it opened but when we leave to go explore for the day, we always close it.Hot water is never an issue since this mini is equipped with a tankless hot water tank.
If you choose to get the outdoor dog fence there are 16 panels that go together with a bar, its super simple to set up and can be done by 1 person. You can use all panels or use 4 panels, the size can be a square, rectangle, triangle, circle whatever...There are 2 entry doors that are part of the panels so you can get in and out.
