Bokensha (冒険者) means “Adventurer” in Japanese.
Some vacations are about getting somewhere. The best ones are about the journey.
Imagine waking to mountain views in the Cascades, brewing coffee beside a quiet alpine lake, or ending the day with a sunset on Washington’s rugged coast. Bokensha was built for those moments.
This unique imported Toyota HiAce Cruising Cabin combines classic Japanese craftsmanship with thoughtful modern upgrades to create a camper that’s every bit as memorable as the places you’ll explore. Compact enough to drive with confidence and park almost anywhere, yet remarkably comfortable once you arrive, Bokensha makes it easy to slow down and enjoy the adventure.
Inside you'll find a warm, inviting cabin with comfortable sleeping for up to four guests, a fully equipped kitchen, refrigerator, stove, and a modern off-grid power system that lets you enjoy lighting, refrigeration, device charging, and other camping comforts even when you're away from electrical hookups. Optional Starlink satellite internet is available for guests who'd like to stay connected while exploring. We've carefully equipped the van with quality gear, comfortable bedding, and thoughtful touches so you can spend less time packing and more time enjoying the adventure.
Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or an unforgettable Pacific Northwest road trip, Bokensha is ready to take you there.

Its wider sleeping surface and full interior headroom make it the preferred choice for most couples. The pop-top loft provides a cozy second sleeping area that is ideal for one adult or two children. It can also accommodate two adults who don't mind a cozy sleeping arrangement, although we generally recommend it for guests under about 6 feet tall. For the most comfortable experience, we recommend Bokensha for couples, solo travelers, or two adults traveling with one or two children. One of the best parts of van travel is staying somewhere beautiful without needing a crowded RV park.
Bokensha’s upgraded lithium battery system provides dependable power for lighting, charging your devices, refrigeration, and everyday camping comforts, allowing you to enjoy many campsites without electrical hookups.Driving Bokensha
If you've never driven a camper before, Bokensha is a wonderful place to start. As an authentic Japanese import, it features right-hand drive, but don't let that intimidate you. Most guests feel comfortable within the first 10–15 minutes, and we'll provide a thorough orientation before your trip to help you get acquainted.
Unlike larger motorhomes, it feels much more like driving an SUV or minivan. It's easy to park, comfortable on highways, and well suited for scenic byways and maintained forest roads throughout the Pacific Northwest.
On flat highways, Bokensha cruises comfortably at normal highway speeds. Like many classic camper vans, however, it takes a more relaxed pace on long, steep mountain grades. Simply settle into the right lane and enjoy the scenery—it's all part of the journey.
While Bokensha features capable 4WD, it is not intended for extreme off-road use. We want you to explore confidently while treating this unique camper with the care it deserves.
Bokensha is an authentic Japanese-market Toyota HiAce Cruising Cabin—a model seldom seen in North America. Designed and built by Toyota as a complete camper rather than an aftermarket conversion, it reflects the thoughtful engineering and craftsmanship these vans are known for.
Our Philosophy
Bokensha isn’t just a camper—it’s an invitation to slow down.
Take the scenic route. Stop at the overlook. Stay for the sunset. Wake up somewhere beautiful. Enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
Whether you’re sharing stories around the camp table, cooking breakfast with the doors open to the mountains, or discovering a place you’ve never been before, we hope Bokensha becomes part of memories you’ll keep long after your trip ends.
We’re excited to share this special little camper with fellow adventurers and can’t wait to help you experience the Pacific Northwest the way we love to.

Foire aux questions
Q.
I've never driven a right-hand-drive vehicle. Is it difficult?
R.
Most guests adjust surprisingly quickly—usually within the first 10–15 minutes. We'll provide a thorough orientation before your trip, including tips for lane positioning, signaling/controls, and driving comfortably. After a short drive, it becomes very natural.
Q.
Can it drive on the freeway?
R.
Yes. Bokensha cruises comfortably on highways and is perfect for exploring Washington and the Pacific Northwest. Like many classic camper vans, it takes a more relaxed pace on long, steep mountain grades, where you'll simply settle into the right lane and enjoy the scenery.
Q.
Is it automatic or manual?
R.
Bokensha has an automatic transmission, making it easy to drive even if you've never driven a classic camper before.
Q.
Does it have air conditioning?
R.
Yes. Bokensha has powerful front and rear air conditioning that keeps the cabin comfortable while you're driving, even on warm summer days. We've also added a heat-reducing windshield film to reduce solar heat on sunny drives. Like virtually all camper vans, the air conditioning operates while the engine is running. Once you're parked, the MaxxAir roof fan, opening sliding windows, and portable fans provide excellent ventilation for overnight camping in the Pacific Northwest.
