This 87 Westfalia Camper has been restored and updated with key improvements to both the mechanical components and driving / camping comforts, including a new engine & cooling system, upgraded wheels and bumpers, light truck mirrors for better visibility, a mild lift for extra ground clearance, heavy duty steel bumpers for safety, and a new tent for the pop top. The van also has a great wireless stereo with an amp and a six speaker sound system. Additionally, the roof has been outfitted with a surf rack and cargo box, plus a side ladder for easy access. The van has also been fitted with a brand new Fiamma retractable awning, as well as lift assist struts for the pop top to help open / close.As with all full camper Westfalia models, there's a full galley with a sink and a two burner stove. The original propane fridge has been removed and replaced with a modern 12V fridge / freezer which works very well and runs off the house battery. House battery can be charged via solar or from shore power, when available.Looking for something a little different? Just check of the list of what you want (fees apply) and we'll handle the rest.Autres points à signalerPlease keep in mind that this is a vintage rig, max highway speed is 65 mph, and even with all the upgrades and a perfectly tuned stock engine, the van is quite slow up hills (45-50 mph) and climbing steep grades should be avoided whenever possible. Please note that travel on or over the "grapevine" is strictly forbidden (the pass on the 5 freeway between LA and Bakersfield), so if you're traveling the coast, the 101 should be your route of choice.This is a manual (stick shift) vehicle. You must be able to proficiently pilot this vehicle in order to take possession at time or rental, and you should also be familiar with cab-over vehicle handling. Please DO NOT rent the van if you've never driven stick, or if you are out of practice or are unsure of your ability to drive a manual. These are not performance vehicles - they are vintage beach cruisers and must be treated with love & care.No smoking at all (of any kind) inside the van, and pets are also not allowed.

San O Vans are amazing! The communication with Brian was easy and helpful. We camped at a state park by the beach and the van had everything we needed. We used the stove and sink to cook which was really fun. The van has a lot of storage space, almost as much as at home! The cabinets made it easy to be organized and keep the van neat. The two sleeping areas, both the convertible bed below and the pop-top were very comfortable for a solid nights sleep. The van was easy to drive and ran really well, even on the highway and in stop and go traffic. We put our 3 surfboards on the roof and we put all of our beach gear in the extra storage container on the roof too. The awning provided shade at our sunny campsite making it a great place to stay cool and hang out during the day. The kids were endlessly entertained by playing in the parked van. Pick-up and drop-off were easy. We will definitely be renting a San O Van again soon and highly recommend that you rent one of Brian’s vans!

My wife Amanda and I are the owners / founders of a small women's surf & swimwear brand called SEEA. Since moving to Southern California in 2010, we've been surfing at San Onofre and exploring the Pacific coast, from Baja up to Big Sur. We got our first VW in 2014, the same year our daughter was born. Since then, restoring VW's has been my main passion and hobby. Westfalia campers are truly unique vehicles, and there's simply nothing I like better than cruising the coast with my family in a well-tuned vintage van. As a natural extension of our own surf & travel adventures, the decision to share that stoke with others is a joyous one - so we're excited to introduce SAN-O VAN as a fun, alternative platform for your surf centric coast explorations.
