Foire aux questions
Q.
Who (or what) is Tanuki?
R.
Tanuki is our quirky little 2007 Daihatsu Hijet—a Japanese micro van that’s been fully converted into a cozy camper. It’s compact, fuel-efficient, and turns heads wherever it goes. Named after the cheeky raccoon-dog of Japanese folklore, Tanuki is all about fun, freedom, and fitting into tiny campsites.
Q.
Where do I pick up and drop off Tanuki?
R.
Pickups and drop-offs happen at our place in Victoria, BC—it’s super easy to get to. If you’re flying or taking the ferry, we can deliver Tanuki to the airport, ferry terminal, or almost anywhere else nearby. Drop off anywhere is also available. Just let us know what works for you!
Q.
Is Tanuki easy to drive?
R.
Yes! Tanuki is right-hand drive, but it’s automatic and super easy to get used to—most renters say it takes about 10 minutes to feel totally comfortable. It’s small and nimble, great for twisty island roads, ferry decks, and tight campsites.
Q.
Do I need a special licence?
R.
Nope. Just a regular Class 5 (or equivalent) licence is all you need or follow instructions on outdoorsy to become a verified driver and that is all you need.
